How American Board runs national teacher certification on MyPass LMS

A certification program is a records business

American Board certifies teachers nationally. Behind every candidate sits a chain of records: eligibility, a background check, program progress, exam results, and the audit trail a certification decision has to stand on — sometimes years later, in front of a state agency.

That is a different problem from “hosting courses.” A certification body does not get to lose a record, miss a renewal, or hand an auditor a spreadsheet assembled from three systems. The platform underneath has to treat records as the product.

Inside the candidate platform

ABCTE's public candidate platform at newmypass.abcte.org runs on MyPass LMS. Candidates register, complete the background-check step, and work through their certification program in one place; program staff work from the same system of record instead of reconciling exports.

Audit preparation is the sharpest example of what that consolidation buys. In the team's own words: “Audit prep that used to take days is now a one-click export.”

Ten years in

The strongest proof point here is not a feature — it is tenure. Certification bodies replatform reluctantly and audit their vendors continuously, and American Board has kept its national program with Kprise since 2016. In LMS terms that is several full replacement cycles that never happened.
