Questionmark Review: Exam Software, Pricing and Alternatives
Questionmark is an enterprise assessment platform for certification exams and workforce skills testing. Since 2021 it has been owned by Learnosity, and its site now calls it "a product of Learnosity."
Short answer
Choose Questionmark if exams are the product: high-stakes certification tests, regulated compliance checks or skills validation where item banking, proctoring and psychometric reporting matter more than course delivery. It is not an LMS, so you will still need one for courses, learning paths and member training. Pricing is quote-based; the only public figure is a UK government listing of £6,235 to £316,800 per licence per year.

Who Questionmark fits
A good fit if you
- Run certification or licensure exams where defensibility, item analysis and cut scores matter
- Need proctoring choices: AI monitoring, live proctors, recorded session review and identity checks
- Already have an LMS such as Workday Learning or Cornerstone and want to add stronger testing to it
- Must meet strict security requirements: Questionmark states FedRAMP Moderate authorization and ISO 27001
Look elsewhere if you
- Want one system for courses, learning paths, certificates and exams together
- Need published, self-serve pricing for a small team or a single program
- Run member education that has to sync with an association management system (AMS)
What Questionmark is
Questionmark is exam software, not a learning management system. It covers the full life of a test: writing questions, managing item banks with version history, delivering exams in a browser, secure browser or on mobile, proctoring them, scoring, and reporting on both candidates and questions. Its homepage says it is trusted by 750+ organizations, with use cases in compliance, IT certification, professional services, corporate training and hiring.
Who owns Questionmark? Questionmark was a UK company founded by John Kleeman, with offices in the US and Europe. In June 2021 it was acquired by Learnosity, the assessment engine company. The site footer now reads "Learnosity Limited", and the product is described as "Powered by Learnosity." If you searched for "Questionmark Corporation", this is the same business: the UK entity on government listings is Questionmark Computing Limited.
There are two main offerings. Questionmark Certification is aimed at certification and credentialing bodies, professional associations and regulators. Questionmark Workforce is aimed at corporate L&D and compliance teams that need to prove employees are competent. Both sit alongside an LMS rather than replacing it; Questionmark's own pages say using both tools together is the most effective approach for skills-based or high-stakes programs.
Key features
Authoring and item banks
Media-rich question types, AI-generated questions drawn from your own training material, item versioning, audit trails and permission controls for teams of item writers.
Proctoring
AI monitoring, live proctors who can step in during an exam, review of recorded sessions, identity verification and a secure browser. The homepage also lists onsite proctoring.
Psychometric reporting
Item difficulty and cut score analysis, candidate and program reports, and audit-ready reports for regulators. The Workforce page cites 70+ report types.
Delivery and translation
Exams on demand worldwide in browser, secure browser and mobile. The G-Cloud listing says the service is available in 36 languages and also supports paper delivery.
Digital badges
A Credly integration issues verifiable badges that candidates can share on LinkedIn after they pass.
Integrations
SCORM, LTI, xAPI, AICC and SAML single sign-on, an API layer, and named integrations with Workday Learning and Cornerstone.
Questionmark pricing
Questionmark does not publish a price list. Its website sends you to book a demo or talk to its assessment team. The quote depends on which product you buy (Certification or Workforce), how many exams and candidates you run, and which proctoring and integration options you add.
The only public figure we found is on the UK government G-Cloud 14 marketplace, where Questionmark OnDemand is listed at £6,235 to £316,800 per licence per year, hosted in a private cloud with data in the United Kingdom. That band is for UK public sector buyers, but it is a useful signal of scale: this is annual enterprise licensing, not a monthly self-serve plan. The same listing mentions a 30-day free trial set up by the Questionmark team.
Budget for implementation time too. Questionmark's FAQ estimates 10 to 12 weeks for an enterprise rollout, depending on requirements.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Purpose-built for high-stakes exams, with item banking, versioning and psychometric reports
- Wide proctoring choice, from AI monitoring to live proctors and identity checks
- Strong security posture on its own pages: FedRAMP Moderate, ISO 27001 and GDPR
- Plugs into existing LMSs through SCORM, LTI, xAPI, AICC and SSO
- Backed by Learnosity's assessment engine; Questionmark was the first company to take assessment software online
Cons
- Not an LMS: courses, learning paths and enrollments need a separate system
- No public pricing; the public price band starts in the thousands per year
- Enterprise rollout is measured in weeks (10 to 12 per Questionmark's FAQ)
- AMS integration for associations is not advertised
Questionmark vs MyPass LMS
Questionmark and MyPass solve different problems. Questionmark is a dedicated exam platform; MyPass LMS is a learning platform that includes assessments. If your exams carry legal or licensure weight, Questionmark is the stronger tool. If you need to train people, test them and issue certificates in one place, MyPass is simpler and cheaper.

Your quote depends on the product (Certification or Workforce), exam and candidate volume, and the proctoring and integrations you need.
Is Questionmark part of Learnosity?

What is Questionmark exam software used for?
Organizations use Questionmark to write, deliver, proctor and score exams. Typical uses are professional certification and licensure exams, regulatory compliance tests, IT certifications and employee skills checks. It manages item banks with version history and produces reports on candidates and on individual questions, such as item difficulty and cut scores.
Is Questionmark an LMS?
No. Questionmark is an assessment platform. It does not run courses or learning paths. It is designed to sit alongside an LMS, connecting through SCORM, LTI, xAPI, AICC or single sign-on, with named integrations for Workday Learning and Cornerstone. If you want training and exams in one system, look at an LMS with built-in assessments.

Does Questionmark offer a free trial?
Questionmark's website directs visitors to book a demo rather than start a self-serve trial. Its UK G-Cloud 14 listing says a 30-day free trial is available, set up by the Questionmark team with a demonstration area. Ask the sales team whether the same applies to your region and product.
